The importance of sport has been included in the Kings’ speech, which will be broadcast on Christmas Day. The King’s annual message will refer to the benefits to be gained by communities taking part in sporting activities. People can use regular activity to help create a close community, as well as helping to relieve stress caused by the tensions of everyday life. As the Royal family are all keen sportsmen and women, the King’ will be well aware of the benefits of sport for children and adults.
Polo has been a prominent sport for the Duke of Edinburgh, King Charles, Prince William and Harry, although Prince Philip and Prince Charles have now retired from the game. The Queen will offer praise to the people all over the United Kingdom who give up their free time to encourage children to take part in sports and games, not only to offer a different view on life, but to also improve child health.
The activity of children has reduced, which could be partly to blame for the increase in children who are overweight. Sports and regular activity play a valuable role in society, helping to improve social skills and activity levels, which the Queen’s speech will highlight to the nation.
The King’s speech is usually recorded at Buckingham Palace, but this year will be recorded at Hampton Court Palace, suggested by the Queen.
